Channing Tatum Posted a Shirtless Video of His Beach Workout

Channing Tatum has apparently taken up open ocean swimming—and he’s quickly learned it isn’t a joke. The actor recently took to Instagram to post his awe over professional athletes after crushing a two mile open ocean swim of his own.

In the accompanying video, Tatum is simply exiting the ocean in swim trunks. But he has a lot to say in the caption about workout motivation, respect and staying motivated to crush a workout.

“I have done all kinds of bullshit to get in or stay in shape. Almost everything you can think of,” Tatum captioned the video. “And, I have to say, nothing yet has been more suffocating and exhausting and effective than freestyle wrestling or open ocean water swimming. There are moments in both that I am always like, ‘I think I might die. Yup, pretty sure I can’t go on. Let [sic] go would be better than this.”

Tatum even commented that his long-time trainer and buff bud, Arin Babaian, couldn’t actually finish the two mile swim himself. That’s some bragging rights at the very least.

“I’m not even I [sic] professional athlete,” he added. “I can’t imagine the depths in which they push themselves. Unreal. I do it for movies. Very different motivation. Either way, get after it, everyone. It’s good to be alive.”

It is, indeed—especially after a good workout. If you need your own gym motivation, Babaian previously told Men’s Health how he gets Tatum into killer shape—even when he doesn’t want to work out.
